Nicknames

Hey Mom,
You called me Snaggletooth!!!!!!
Winston
Dear Winston,
I may have. But I said it lovingly.
Love, Carolyn
Mom,
But why??????
Winston
Dear Winston,
Because your teeth don’t seem to line up quite right. Add that to your crossed eyes and ears askew and you’ve got a bit of a comic aspect.
Love, Carolyn
Hey Mom,
You also call me Slinky. You and Dad have so many nicknames for us.
Winston
Dear Winston,
It’s one of the ways we entertain ourselves.
Love, Carolyn
Hey Mom,
When you call me Bezoon Bezoonian you both laugh and laugh.
Winston
Dear Winston,
We do. We think it’s hilarious. Bezoon is the Arabic word for cat. And adding the “ian” to it makes it an Armenian family name.
Love, Carolyn
Mom,
But Dad is Armenian – why not use the Armenian word for cat?
Winston
Dear Winston,
The word Bezoon just sounds funny. We like funny.
Love, Carolyn
Hey Mom,
Is that why you call Puffin the Puffinheimer? Because it’s funny?
Winston
Dear Winston,
Sure, but still, that’s not as funny as Bezoon Bezoonian.
Love, Carolyn
Hey Mom,
Yesterday you called Puffin your Big Puffy Bunny.
Winston
Dear Winston,
He was a bit offended by that. He’s still annoyed that the vet said holding him was like holding a big soft bunny.
Love, Carolyn
Hey Mom,
When you call him your sweet snookie, he gets all embarrassed.
Winston
Dear Winston,
Secretly he really likes it, but he worries that he needs to keep his dignity intact. He shouldn’t worry about that. He’s got the high rank of Senior Cat. He’s got dignity locked in.
Love, Carolyn
Hey Mom,
Poppy doesn’t have high rank. She’s a dog. No rank there. She doesn’t even have funny nicknames.
Winston
Dear Winston,
She has cute nicknames. Popsicle. Poppers. And Popchek. She’s fine with cute. And she doesn’t need rank. She’s the only dog here. She’s automatically Top Dog.
Love, Carolyn
Mom,
She probably secretly wishes she were a cat.
Winston
Dear Winston,
We’ll just keep that to ourselves, shall we? We don’t want to start anything.
Love, Carolyn
