Dear Mia,

What on earth are you doing with my recipe books and magazines?

Love, Carolyn

Dear Mommy,

I’m all excited about Thanksgiving!

Love, Mia

Dear Mia,

That’s nice, but it’s not really a cat holiday.

Love, Carolyn

Dear Mommy,

I heard it’s all about turkey. Turkey is meat. I like meat. I think Thanksgiving should be a cat holiday!

Love, Mia

Dear Mia,

Thanksgiving isn’t all about turkey, honey. It’s about gratitude.

Love, Carolyn

Dear Mommy,

I’m grateful for meat!

Love, Mia

Dear Mia,

Thanksgiving isn’t about meat, either. It’s about a feast. Vegetarians enjoy feasting too.

Love, Carolyn

Dear Mommy,

But all we hear is turkey turkey turkey.

Love, Mia

Dear Mia,

Okay, it is a bit turkey centric.

Love, Carolyn

Dear Mommy,

And we have great big gangs of wild turkeys right here in our neighborhood! A whole lot of meat right outside on our street! I’m studying up on cooking one of them.

Love, Mia

Dear Mia,

First of all, as annoying as they are, we’re not going to go catch a wild turkey. Second, I don’t even cook turkey for Thanksgiving. We go to my sister’s for the feast, and my job is to bring pies.

Love, Carolyn

Dear Mommy,

Do pies have meat in them?

Love, Mia

Dear Mia,

No, I make one with pumpkin and one with apples.

Love, Carolyn

Dear Mommy,

No meat? What’s the point? This is such a disappointment.

Love, Mia

Dear Mia,

I’ll make it up to you. You can have some poultry flavored Temptation treats for Thanksgiving.

Love, Carolyn

Dear Mommy,

I still think the neighborhood turkey population needs culling.

Love, Mia

Dear Mia,

A lot of people would agree with you on that. We’ll try to be grateful that there aren’t more of them.

Love, Carolyn
