Dark

Cher Madame,

Ce qui est tout cela l’angoisse? Madame is so anguished! Where is la sourire? Une smile on le face of Madame?

Regards,

M. Le Poufin

Dear Puffin,

Thank you Sweetie, that’s kind of you to notice. I have been feeling anguished. Things have been very tense, politically speaking.

Love, Carolyn

Cher Madame,

On est dans la merde.

Regards,

M. Le Poufin

Dear Puffin,

It feels that way. I think if our little Molly were alive today, she would be saying, as she so often did: “We’re doomed.”

Love, Carolyn

Cher Madame,

Molly she was très très intelligent. Mais dark. Trop dark.

Regards,

M. Le Poufin

Dear Puffin,

She was dark. I guess I’m not ready to call us doomed, Sweetie. Somehow we have to find a way to get through all this division.

Love, Carolyn

Cher Madame,

Il faut dire, it would be better if les humans simplement settled les affaires comme les chats. We cats have a much better way.

Regards,

M. Le Poufin

Dear Puffin,

Your way is crude, though effective. But I don’t want to see humans rolling around screaming and clawing each other. Things are bad enough as it is.

Love, Carolyn

Cher Madame,

Not comme ça. That sounds so undignified. Non, avec le killer stare.

Regards,

M. Le Poufin

Dear Puffin,

The killer stare doesn’t always work, Sweetie. Sometimes it makes Mia turn and run, but other times she makes you run. You had a scratch across your nose last week. I didn’t want to mention it because I know you are sensitive about losing a battle with a female, but it was quite noticeable.

Love, Carolyn

Cher Madame,

Sometimes le Turn et Run is a good alternative employed by les chats. Other times le killer stare. Cats know what to do. Turn et Run is also a good plan when that horrid Hell Hound is here visiting.

Regards,

M. Le Poufin

Dear Puffin,

I’m sorry about Mika’s visit last week, Sweetie. I know you are very unhappy when we babysit that dog. But that’s life. Not everyone plays the same way. We just have to figure out how to get along. Now more than ever.

Love, Carolyn
