Bad Words
by carolynholm
Dear Mom,
Puffin hissed at me again.
XOXO Poppy
Dear Poppy,
He hisses at everyone, sweetie. Don’t take it personally.
Love, Carolyn
Dear Mom,
He uses bad words. Really bad words. He tells everyone to “F— off!”
XOXO Poppy
Dear Poppy,
Just ignore it. He’s a sweet guy most of the time. but he can be a grumpy old man when things don’t go his way.
Love, Carolyn
Dear Mom,
You said he hissed at the vet.
XOXO Poppy
Dear Poppy,
He did indeed. He had a lot to say to her. He was very angry about being handled by a stranger. She didn’t take it personally. She understood how he felt.
Love, Carolyn
Dear Mom,
He even hissed at you this morning.
XOXO Poppy
Dear Poppy,
I closed the cabinet door on his tail! I don’t blame him.
Love, Carolyn
Dear Mom,
Why did you DO that????????
XOXO Poppy
Dear Poppy,
It was an accident, sweetie. It’s a gentle door. I didn’t hurt him. It just gave him pause.
Love, Carolyn
Dear Mom,
He hisses when I chase him from my food.
XOXO Poppy
Dear Poppy,
Well of course he does. You are being annoying. He doesn’t really want your food. So just stop darting out at him, barking like a crazy creature, when he’s simply walking by.
Love, Carolyn
Dear Mom,
I want some bad words to say back at him.
XOXO Poppy
Dear Poppy,
Why don’t you just exclaim “Biscuits!!!” That will stop him short.
Love, Carolyn
Dear Mom,
Is Biscuits a bad word?
XOXO Poppy
Dear Poppy,
It is, if you make it one.
Love, Carolyn
