The Watch

by carolynholm

Hey Winston,
Look what I found? Your toys were under the sofa.
Love, Carolyn

Mom,
You found them? That’s like magic!!! They’ve been there all this time??????
Winston

Dear Winston,
Of course they have been. That’s what happens when you knock them under the sofa. They stay there until I find them.
Love, Carolyn

Mom,
How did you find them?????
Winston

Dear Winston,
Actually, I was looking for my watch. Which had mysteriously disappeared, and I thought you had been playing with it.
Carolyn

Hey Mom,
What would I do with a watch? Cats don’t need watches. We know exactly what time it is. Dinner time. Play time. Nap time. Beserk-racing-around time. All the important stuff.
Winston

Dear Winston,
You do indeed.
Love, Carolyn

Mom,
Probably Poppy took it, right?
Winston

Dear Winston,
What would Poppy do with a watch?
Love, Carolyn

Mom,
Probably bat it around until it disappeared under the stove.
Winston

Winston,
The STOVE?
Carolyn

Dear Winston,
I found the watch. Under the stove. Where YOU batted it when you were playing with it, thank you very much.
Carolyn

Hey Mom,
No problem!
Winston
