Winter Gloom
by carolynholm
Dear Alpha Mom,
Now that it is getting colder I really appreciate the sweatshirt at night. Thank you!
Your Best Dog,
Molly
Dearest Molly,
I know you do, no problem. It is colder, isn’t it? Time for winter sweaters and winter food. Time for me to plan the pies I’m going to make for Thanksgiving.
Love, Carolyn
Dear Alpha Mom,
I know you don’t want me to be negative, but you have to know that Thanksgiving just means chaos and worry.
Your Best Dog,
Molly
Dearest Molly,
I can’t imagine why you would say that. Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday. My daughter and her dog come visit for the weekend, and we all go to my sister’s house for a big feast. I love Thanksgiving!
Love, Carolyn
Dear Alpha Mom,
That’s it in a nutshell. Lena and Mika come, and peace and quiet go right out the window. Visitors just mean chaos. And then you all vanish for a very long day and evening, leaving us behind to worry that you are being eaten by predators.
Your Best Dog,
Molly
Dearest Molly,
Who on earth started this thing about the predators?
Love, Carolyn
Dear Alpha Mom,
No one. It’s a thing. It’s common knowledge. It just makes sense.
Your Best Dog,
Molly
Dearest Molly,
All household animals think this?
Love, Carolyn
Dear Alpha Mom,
Of course we do.
Your Best Dog,
Molly
Dearest Molly,
You think this every time we go out?
Love, Carolyn
Dear Alpha Mom,
Of course. Especially when you go out for a really long time. When that happens Puffin thinks you are ghosts when you finally come home. It takes him a while to be sure that it’s really you.
Your Best Dog,
Molly
Dearest Molly,
I’m so sorry that you all worry about this. But it’s crazy, you know. I’m not going to get killed by predators.
Love, Carolyn
Dear Alpha Mom,
Well, you can’t say you weren’t warned. Happy Thanksgiving. I just hope the chaos and the predators are not too bad this year.
Your Best Dog,
Molly
