The Defender
by carolynholm
Dear Puffin,
You were magnificent this morning.
Love, Carolyn
Cher Madame,
Madame is too kind. Ce n’etait rien. Nothing at all.
Regards, M. Le Poufin
Dear Puffin,
Nothing! That was certainly not nothing! Sweetie, we were all quite impressed.
Love, Carolyn
Cher Madame,
That neighborhood riff-raff will not come back here any time soon.
Regards, M. Le Poufin
Dear Puffin,
Well, I wouldn’t call Louis riff-raff. That cat is held in high esteem by the entire neighborhood.
Love, Carolyn
Cher Madame,
He wanted to come through the window!
Regards, M. Le Poufin
Dear Puffin,
Louis does have a reputation for entering other houses and making himself quite at home.
Love, Carolyn
Cher Madame,
That cannot be tolerated.
Regards, M. Le Poufin
Dear Puffin,
No, you made that clear. It was startling to hear you both yowling and yodeling at each other through the open window. Good thing the window has a screen on it to keep out bugs and neighborhood cats.
Love, Carolyn
Cher Madame,
The Poppy tried to get involved. By barking like a lunatic. But apparently Louis is not afraid of dogs.
Regards, M. Le Poufin
Dear Puffin,
No, he is not. He and Poppy have met several times. He is not the least concerned about a barking dog.
Love, Carolyn
Cher Madame,
Where was the Winston? He should have been right there to witness my defense of our house.
Regards, M. Le Poufin
Dear Puffin,
Poor Winston didn’t know what to make of the ruckus, so he just stayed hunkered down in the bedroom. But no worries, I’m pretty sure he knew you were keeping us all safe.
Love, Carolyn
Cher Madame,
Et Monsieur? Where was Monsieur?!
Regards, M. Le Poufin
Dear Puffin,
He had an early meeting today, and missed all this drama! He so regrets that. But I told him all about it. It was quite a show, sweetie. We all feel more secure now. I can’t imagine what would have happened if Louis had come into the house.
Love, Carolyn
Cher Madame,
That, Madame, would simply not be allowed. Enfin, you will all now have the respect. Respect for this defender of the household. Now, peut-être, Madame will stop calling this petit cat by the funny names.
Regards, M. Le Poufin
Dear Puffin,
Funny names? Like Puffin Muffin?
Love, Carolyn
Cher Madame,
Exactememt.
Regards, M. Le Poufin
Dear Puffin,
I’ll try to refrain from the funny names.
Love, Carolyn
