Spring Grass
by carolynholm
Dear Mom,
Bad Ass Kitty wanted to attack us again.
XOXO Poppy
Dear Poppy,
We probably shouldn’t call her that. I’ll bet she’s actually a very sweet cat.
Love, Carolyn
Dear Mom,
No, probably not. She was waiting for us to pass by her front hedge. She was going to charge at us. I’m glad we crossed the street.
XOXO Poppy
Dear Poppy,
She certainly isn’t worried about dogs, that’s for sure. I love it when she stands up arching her back and crab-walks at us. She’s a very cool cat.
Love, Carolyn
Dear Mom,
Whose side are you on?????
XOXO Poppy
Dear Poppy,
We didn’t have to take sides, sweetie. We just crossed the street.
Love, Carolyn
Dear Mom,
Do the other neighborhood dogs have trouble with Bad Ass Kitty when they go on a walk?
XOXO Poppy
Dear Poppy,
I don’t know. Probably. But you are all a gentle bunch.
Love, Carolyn
Dear Mom,
Not the rude pugs.
XOXO Poppy
Dear Poppy,
No, not the rude pugs.
Love, Carolyn
Dear Mom,
And the little screaming dog behind the glass door.
XOXO Poppy
Dear Poppy,
No, that one is a bit crazy. But you are all a little crazy about something. You get really crazy about people who go by the house on a skateboard. You bark like an insane animal.
Love, Carolyn
Dear Mom,
That’s not crazy. That’s just good sense.
XOXO Poppy
Dear Poppy,
And you go nuts over green grass. This time of year, everywhere we go, you are lunging at spring grass. What is the big deal about eating green grass? How good can it be?
Love, Carolyn
Dear Mom,
Are you kidding me? It’s awesome!!!!!
XOXO Poppy
Dear Poppy,
And then not too much later you barf up green grass and slime. It’s disgusting. And all the dogs are doing it. I’ve been seeing those slimy piles in the sidewalk everywhere.
Love, Carolyn
Dear Mom,
We all know how good it is. It’s like a club. We are all eating it. And barfing.
XOXO Poppy
Dear Poppy,
The Spring Green Grass Club.
Love, Carolyn
Dear Mom,
It has a name???? That’s so cool!!!!!
XOXO Poppy
