Snacks

Bird Brain

Dear Alpha Mom,

Why are there chicks living inside our house?

Your Best Dog,

Molly

Dearest Molly,

They’re babies. They have to be indoors for six weeks. When they are old enough they will join the flock in the coop.

Love, Carolyn

Dear Alpha Mom,

I never knew that babies could be so rowdy. What a commotion.

Your best dog,

Molly

Dearest Molly,

They are chatty aren’t they? It’s like a party in there. They seem to be having a wonderful time.

Love, Carolyn

Dear Alpha Mom,

Puffin spends a lot of time watching them. He says he’s keeping an eye on his snacks.

Your best dog,

Molly

Dearest Molly

Don’t pay any attention to what Puffin says. They are growing fast and they’ll join the big chickens soon. When they are full-sized they will probably terrify him.

Love, Carolyn

Dear Alpha Mom,

Do the chickens ever write to you?

Your Best Dog,

Molly

Dearest Molly,

No, they don’t. I don’t think they are literate. Not that they aren’t intelligent. But I don’t think they really care what I think.

Love, Carolyn

Dear Alpha Mom,

They’re not part of our pack, are they? Everyone in our pack cares what you think.

Your Best Dog,

Molly

Dearest Molly,

It’s probably a mammal thing.

Love, Carolyn
