Night Sounds

by carolynholm

Dear Puffin,
You were making cute little grunting sounds in your sleep last night.
Love, Carolyn

Cher Madame,
This petit cat does not do the grunting.
Regards, M. Le Poufin

Dear Puffin,
It won’t hurt your reputation for dignity, sweetie.
Love, Carolyn

Cher Madame,
It is probably the Winston. He does the snoring all night long.
Regards, M. Le Poufin

Dear Puffin,
He does, doesn’t he! He’s a noisy breather. I suspect it’s because his nose is not shaped quite as straight as it should be. But you do indeed grunt.
Love, Carolyn

Cher Madame,
Perhaps you are hearing the Poppy. She barks in her sleep.
Regards, M. Le Poufin

Dear Puffin,
I love when she does that. She makes such cute little barky yips, and her feet twitch. Maybe she is chasing squirrels in her dreams.
Love, Carolyn

Cher Madame,
She does this every night. She is probably the one you hear grunting.
Regards, M. Le Poufin

Dear Puffin,
She does, every night, you are right about that. She has a very rich dream life. But you still do the grunting.
Love, Carolyn

Cher Madame,
Perhaps you are hearing Monsieur.
Regards, M. Le Poufin

Dear Puffin,
I think not. What I hear is a very small animal sound.
Love, Carolyn

Cher Madame,
The window she is open, You probably hear an animal passing by under the bushes. Louie the ginger cat. Or a possum.
Regards, M. Le Poufin

Dear Puffin,
If it were a critter passing by under the window, what we’d most likely hear is the rustle of leaves. No, I’m pretty sure I heard you grunting.
Love, Carolyn

Cher Madame,
Such relentless persecution. Madame is determined to describe this dignified cat as a grunter.
Regards, M. Le Poufin

Dear Puffin,
Life is unfair.
Love, Carolyn

Cher Madame,
Toujours le sarcasm.
Regards, M. le Poufin
