Shiny Toys!

by carolynholm

Hey Mom!
You’ve put out so many shiny toys for me!!!!!
Winston

Dear Winston,
Those aren’t toys, sweetie. That bowl of ornaments is part of our holiday decor. And you’re not supposed to even be on that table.
Love, Carolyn

Mom,
But they ARE toys!!!! They roll when I tap them.
Winston

Dear Winston,
Please leave them in the bowl!
Carolyn

Hey Mom,
They also click on each other in a provocative way!
Winston

Dear Winston,
Let’s leave them in the bowl so they won’t click.
Carolyn

Hey Mom,
The tree is awesome!!!!!!!
Winston

Dear Winston,
Thank you, sweetie! I appreciate that you boys don’t try to climb the tree. Puffin is too fat to climb. And you, thank heavens, aren’t a climbing cat!
Love, Carolyn

Hey Mom,
There are climbing cats???
Winston

Dear Winston,
There are, but they aren’t very interesting. Not like you. You are a much more interesting cat. A non-climbing cat.
Love, Carolyn

Hey Mom,
I don’t care about interesting!!! Why can’t I be a climbing cat?
Winston

Dear Winston,
We think it might be because your vision isn’t very good. You’ve never been one to try to scale the curtains, or jump up onto the mantle where we keep the cat toys.
Love, Carolyn

Mom,
THAT’s where you keep the cat toys?
Winston

Dear Winston,
Possibly.
Carolyn

Mom,
And scaling curtains? Dude, that’s a THING?
Winston

Dear Winston,
Let’s see if we can find you a distracting treat!
Love, Carolyn

Mom!
IN THE TREAT DRAWER!!!! IN THE TREAT DRAWER!!!!!!!!!
Winston

Dear Winston,
You sure know the sound of that drawer when it opens. You can hear and identify it from any part of the house. It’s always a reliable distraction. Now, maybe we can stop this suggestive talk of climbing.
Love, Carolyn

Mom,
Climbing what?
Winston
